Norcia Hit Hard by 6.6 Quake

The monks and all our friends are unharmed, but that's the only good news. It's very sad. Architectural jewels completely destroyed, homes and shops destroyed. A lovely little town--an Italian treasure--in ruins.

  1. Very sad indeed. Umbria does seem to be hit by an inordinate number of earthquakes. I remember when Assisi took a major blow in 1997.

  2. I'm so sad for this...the people of Norcia have lost so much, and the world has lost these gems of history, culture, and faith. I am glad you and BA were able to visit last month...so providential that you could get a last look.
